Tanks and fermentation progress

What is happening in the cellar is on the Overview screen. Everything comes from the readings the crew records at the tanks. The app never fills in missing values.

Cellar vessels

Under Cellar vessels each tank has its own card:

• the batch and the beer in the tank,
• which day the batch is on in this tank, and, when the recipe says so, out of how many days of the phase, such as "day 5 of 7",
• how full the tank is and how far it has attenuated,
• the batch temperature curve and the time of the last reading.

A tank nobody has recorded anything for today is marked No reading today. All such tanks are listed at the top in the To be read today card.

When the batch will finish

In the Batches in progress table, the Finishes column shows an estimate of the end of primary fermentation. It is worked out from the falling gravity and the recipe's target final gravity.

• The estimate needs at least three gravity readings and the recipe target.
• It is an estimate, not a date to plan on. Each new reading moves it.
• When the gravity reaches the recipe target, it shows at target.
• When the gravity has stood still for two days without reaching the target, it shows standing still.
• When the estimated date passes without a new reading, you see needs a reading.

Fermentation chart

The batch detail has a Fermentation over time chart. Days from brew day run across, temperature and gravity go up. The dashed line is the planned profile from the recipe, so you see where reality drifts from the plan.

The chart also shows Earlier batches of this recipe faintly, so you see whether the batch runs like last time.

Phone notifications

When the crew has notifications turned on, the app speaks up:

• Fermentation done: the gravity has been at the recipe target for two days.
• Gravity stalled: the gravity has not moved for two days but is still above the recipe target.
• Ready to package: the maturation time from the recipe has passed.
• Morning reading reminder: once a day, a list of tanks nobody has recorded anything for yet. You set the time in Settings.
