Cooling and cooling profiles
The brewer prepares the temperature curve for fermentation and maturation, the crew confirms each change on the phone and it all goes into the cooling protocol.
A cooling profile is the temperature curve that governs fermentation and maturation. The brewer prepares templates in advance and picks one when the batch is transferred to the tank.
Profile template
In Settings open Cooling profiles and tap New profile.
- Enter a Name, such as "Lager, bottom".
- Enter the Pitching temperature (°C): how far to cool the wort before pitching.
- Add the Profile steps. For each step enter From day, the temperature and, if needed, the Ramp (h).
Days count from pitching, zero being pitching day. Two steps cannot start on the same day. The last step lasts until packaging.
Applying it to a tank
You choose the profile when transferring the batch to the tank, in the Cooling profile field. A copy of the template is applied to the tank. If you edit the template later, running batches are not affected.
- The pitching temperature applies right after transfer, even if the yeast goes in the next day.
- Adding another batch to the tank does not restart the profile.
- Edit the profile applied to a tank on the vessel card with Edit profile. Steps that have already happened stay unchanged.
If you do not want a profile, choose No profile — cool by hand at transfer.
The crew at the tank
The tank card on the phone shows the next step under Cooling profile, such as Set to 12 °C.
- Change the temperature on the panel at the tank.
- Scan the tank's QR label. Confirming is only possible after the scan.
- Tap I changed it.
The app records who changed it, when, and from which temperature to which. A missed step is marked Was due earlier. Confirming works without a signal too.
Cooling can only be switched on and off at the tank panel, not in the app.
Cooling protocol
The profile steps and the crew's confirmations go into the batch's Cooling protocol, from pitching to closing. You find it on the batch detail and it can be printed. It shows whether the profile was followed.
Temperature over time in the tank is covered in Tanks and fermentation progress.
