Sanitation and CIP
Sanitation procedures with intervals, CIP recorded by scanning the tank's QR code, and a record of every sanitation. Sanitation is planned before filling.
Sanitation has three parts in the app: procedures, the plan and the record. The brewer sets up the procedures, the crew records sanitation on the phone at the tank.
Sanitation procedures
A procedure is the template you sanitise by. Create one under Sanitation → Procedures with New procedure.
- Enter the Procedure name, such as "Fermenter CIP".
- Under When it repeats choose After the vessel is emptied, or Every few days and fill in Every how many days.
- Optionally enter Sanitation valid for (days). After that it has to be repeated, even if the vessel was standing idle.
- Fill in the Procedure steps: minutes, temperature, a chemical from stock and its concentration.
- Pick Which vessels and Which equipment the procedure applies to.
Sanitation plan
Vessels are sanitised right before filling. Every batch has its sanitation planned automatically: the fermenter before brewing, the lager tank before the transfer. The default is the day before.
On the batch you can move it to 2 days before, to the brew day or to another day. You can also mark it as not needed. When you move the batch to another tank or day, the sanitation moves with it.
A vessel overdue for sanitation does not hold up planning batches. The app flags it so you plan sanitation before filling.
Recording sanitation by phone
- Scan the tank's QR label.
- On the tank card tap Sanitise it.
- Pick the procedure. The screen always shows one step only, the one you are doing now.
- If you measure them, enter the Measured temperature (°C) and Concentration (%). Both fields are optional.
- Tap Done, next step. On the last step tap Done, finish sanitation.
Recording works without a signal too. It is saved on the phone and sent automatically. The crew sees what needs sanitising today on the Today screen under To sanitise.
Record and overview
Every sanitation produces a CIP record with the start, the finish and the steps performed. What was actually measured is recorded, not the target from the template. The record can be printed.
On the Sanitation screen each vessel shows In order, Overdue or Never sanitised. You also see when it was last sanitised, by whom and until when the sanitation is valid.
