Troubleshooting

The app reports an unusual reading

Why the app asks whether a value is really right, when it refuses an entry, and how to correct a number you entered wrongly.

When you record a reading, the app watches for typos. Most often it is a decimal separator in the wrong place. Depending on the value, it reacts in one of three ways.

A value outside the usual range

Below the form, Unusual reading appears with the question That is outside the usual range. Is it really so? The entry has not been saved yet.

  • If the value is right, tap Yes, save it. It is saved as usual.
  • If it is a typo, tap Let me fix it and correct the number.

The app shows the value as it understood it. That also reveals a mistake in the decimal separator. An unusual value can always be saved; some breweries simply work outside the usual range.

A value that cannot be right

If a number is so high or low that it makes no sense, the app does not accept it. It says The system did not accept this value — it cannot be that high or low. Check the decimal separator. Correct the number and save again.

Saved, but it looks like a typo

Sometimes the app saves the value and flags it afterwards: That value looks like a typo, but it was saved. Check it, or record it again. If the number is wrong, record it again as described below.

Correcting a number you just entered

  1. Scan the label of the same tank again.
  2. Enter the correct value and save.
  3. The app asks You measured here a moment ago. Choose Correcting the previous one.

You can correct your own reading within 15 minutes of measuring. The original value is not deleted. The new one counts in the brew sheet, and the change history shows what was corrected.

If you measured again and both numbers are valid, choose A new reading.

The whole recording procedure is described in Entering measurements by phone.
